Hello-

I am a broadcast engineer and SI. I run a business based in Seattle, WA, but our work takes us around the country designing and building TV and audio studios, broadcast tech cores, operations centers, production and post-production facilities, etc.

I hope you don't mind me crashing your forum, but there isn't anything else similar I've found for Broadcast SI (our market is probably too small). I've been lurking for some time now, the tech is similar, and the business issues are somewhat similar too.

As an expert in broadcast technology, AV can sometimes be a bit frustrating. We do occasionally get into some cross-over between broadcast and large commercial AV so I'm hoping to gain a little insight into why some things are done they way they are in AV.

Hello I'm Andrew and I'm an AV installer...

[Group] "Hi Andrew"

This is my second post and I'm working the 12 steps of A/V...

I first started A/V just out of high school. I was working in a call center for a cable company. I found myself constantly having to help customers reconnect cable boxes and modems over the phone.

I didn't know I had a problem with A/V until I started working for a major electronics retailer and found myself increasing wanting the best for my customers.

I didn't stop there though. I've transitioned from sales to installation and all the time I've become more interested in A/V and solving complex problems.

I'm powerless in the face of this addiction and hope to find the help here to overcome my obsession with proper installation/integration.

I am not sure, by your wording, whether you are interested in learning more about A/V integration/installation, or if you want to get away from it forever. :) Either way, you will find the help you need here. Bwahaha... Welcome!

This is the exact path I took to get into AV. You'll do well. It's a surprisingly creative industry to be in. Welcome to R.C. Cole.

For that matter, don't pay any attention to Fins. It just happens that the two out of two comments I saw this morning from Fins are worthless. It just happens, but it happens more than it might.
