Well laid out instructions Larry, well done!

Also, my subs should be up front? You guys are
just yuckin' it up over my silly ass aren't ya?

fullflava - my sincerest apologies if my comments offended. The only reason I asked about the car thing is that I've never heard the term "sub cabinet" used except in car audio, but that could be an Australian thing. Noticed a lot of terms that mean one thing here can mean something entirely different in the US and visa-versa. It also in no way implied that your setup was cheap - I've seen car systems worth more than my house.

One final thing mate, never thought of you as silly, or your questions funny. I've had clients that needed 3 weeks instruction just to turn their system on, they wouldn't have had a hope in hell of hooking it up - you've done well.

Aussie, you are right.. sub cabinets would be a car audio term. It had me confused, thinking the same thing as well. But I just figured he wouldn't be doing that so I just assumed that they were towers or floor standing units he had with a subwoofer in it.

Larry, you're the man.. It is hard to sit down and write out a detailed description on how to do something.. especially for free. I always find myself and others trying to explain a short version and it makes since to the writer but to the one that is trying to figure things out he sometimes has a hard time figuring it out.. good job..

No offense taken Aussie, that's just my sense of humor(or lack of... he he). Larry IS the man. If I had him, Ron Aronson and Ericstac, I could make a cool million by Christmas. As it is, I owe ya Lar-man! Thanks alot, thanks everybody I may have forgotten to mention! I-I-I... am the luckiest man-an-an-an at RemoteCentral-tral-tral-ral! Thanks dudes and dudettes.

P.S. Aussie, hey man I've been meanin' to get south for a while now. What's my best shot. You guys in the need for police, or cabinet builders?

Probably need more police, but getting the government to pay for more police, thats another issue.

I know a few cabinet makers and they always seem to be busy.

I'm biased of course but this is a great part of the world, I'm on the West Coast. We'll be heading into winter fairly soon, night-time temperatures could get as low as 35 Farenheit (on a really cold night)

If I could afford two plane tickets, I'd be over there to catch the CES show, whenever that is.

Ah, my new Aussie friend hasn't spent much time on the slopes(does Austraila have snow-capped mountains?). Columbia is an outdoor clothing company, made righteous by skiers everywhere!

Have you re-hooked up your stuff yet?

How is it sounding?

It's all hooked up, but like I said, it almost seems like it's missing some of the punch of "all channel stereo". I need to find someone around here that'll help me out with gettin' it all set just right. The first thing I need to do is get my mains up front. That's gonna require some ingenuity, given my 12x12 living room crammed full of stuff. Man, I can't wait 'till I buy a house, that's gonna be where the fun of this stuff really comes into play. By the way, Larry I checked out your links for your home theater, I must say, very impressive. I only say that 'cause I'm certain you did it yourself. How long you been in the biz? Really though, does Austraila have mountains? I don't know, I'm guessin' really big hills. Any way guys I really appreciate all the help. I was suprised to find that my topic kept being responded to, I kinda feel special. I bet it would've cost me $100 bucks or so to have someone come here and show me, especially if you add up my time on the Sony Remote forum. Ron Aronson, was my savior over there. Thanks to all you guys, this has actually been a very informative thread. I think they should provide it at the front of the site with it's own link: "Click here if you got stuff you don't know what to do with!" He He. Adios Amigos

Until you get the large speakers hooked up as fronts, the 'all channel stereo' (stereo front-rear on my system) is the only way to get full-content signals to them. Otherwise, they receive the rear-channel signals.

How about just swapping the 'front' and 'rear' speaker wires at the receiver for now. At least you'd have the best signals going to the best speakers for the job.

As far as mountains in Australia, I found a link about the Blue Mountains among others in a search for "Australia mountains". So, I'd have to say "yes", but I don't know about skiing. Ask Aussie.

We got mountains, but the only ones with snow are in the Eastern States (New South Wales & Victoria). Highest is Mt Kosciusko at 2228m above sea level (part of the Snowy Mountain range). Never been to the snow myself, but popular over east, don't know how long the snow season is though.

Closest we get to snow on the West Coast is a very occasional hail storm, and the only skiing we do here is water.
