Just thought I should point it out based on the overall hatred of the product here. Fan the flames kinda.

Some think we are just wire monkeys or hooker uppers. What you do is true custom work, one of a kind and epitomizes what this industry is all about. Great job.

Do you wrinkle-coat them yourself?

The one pictured I painted myself with an industrial grade flat black heat resistant spray paint... properly primed, of course.

The stands I will post up later this week I had powder coated.

The powder coating is fairly reasonable although I am not sure if I am entirely happy with the job they did with the prep on my stands. They look good but there are a few spots that did not take well in some of the nooks and crannies.

... One of the audio zones
is a function room and they had a sound ceiling installed
by the company that does them. The idea behind them is
that they can be quite loud when you are under them but
as you move away, the sound drops off dramatically. In
fact this seems to work quite well. There are 64 panels
of perforated metal mounted in a suspended frame and boxed
in. Each panel has 9 six inch dual cone speakers in it
for a total of 576 dual cone speakers in the ceiling which
is 4.8 meters square. I'm told that it needs to be properly
tuned yet and i really hope it makes a dramatic difference.
At the moment it sounds just like you would expect 576
six inch dual cone speakers with no real baffle hanging
in a suspended frame, surrounded by a big plaster box
to sound. I'll let you know how it sounds after the tuning
is done.

Simon.

Any updates?

I love a nice rack!
I'm Not an engineer, but I play one on TV.
My handle is Tweety but I have nothing to do with the organization of similar name. I just had a really big head as a child so folks called me tweety bird.

I did a little cabinet surgery this morning.
It is a built-in with a 5-1/4" space between the back of the cabinet and the wall.

The client wanted his display to "float" above the CC(not in the picture).
I cut out the 1/4" veneer back with a utility knife.

Cut some 2X's to catch a couple studs and extend out to the existing back

Placed the cutout piece back in the hole and mounted it up. If the display was ever intended to be extended out and turned, the visible cut line wouldn't be acceptable.
In this case, it is going to remain flushed to the edge of the cabinet.

That is too funny, I have always said that! That bracket is really nice though, How much would that cost roughly? And for the plasma in the built-in, great job and go lions!

Got tested today to see if I could be a possible match for donating a kidney to a pal of mine.

Stanley I once did the same thing about 5 years ago. She was a work colleague that I became really good mates with and was only 25 years old. I was shattered when I found out that I couldn't donate, but she was so greatful for it and still couldn't believe that I wanted to help her out in such a way.

She eventually found a donor in a non-blood relative and is loving life now more than ever.

Yeah this guy I've know for a long time. In fact I used to work for him, when he took over the company I worked for.
They can actually go in orthoscopically and yank out one of those little puppies, so it's not quite the chainsaw massacre it used to be, although it's no walk in the park either. I'd be more paranoid about picking up a staph infection than anything else.

Good to hear your co-worker is doing well.
This friend of mine is a pretty tough guy, but learned a couple weeks ago that he needs a new (used) one. It's a shot in the dark, but figured I should at least try, ya know?

They are actually setting him up with dialysis machine at his home... I was joking with him about plugging it into the same UPS I plugged his projector into!
Would be kinda tough if the power went out while you're going through dialyisis (sp)?!!

Here are some clickable shots of a job I finished on Friday which included two floor stands I designed and had fabricated from 1/4" steel and 3" pipe. I used a guy who water jet cut the parts from one sheet... great precision way to go. We prewired into the floor/ceiling joists and then hole sawed in and snagged them after the floors were in. All of the wiring comes up into the stands so nothing connects at the wall.

The system is like a little sportscar. 2 cable boxes, DVD, Escient, 3 TVs and 3 stereo pairs (not directly associated with the TVs) matrix switched via an 8x8 Autopatch, powered by a Sonance 875D and controlled via 2 RTI T3s. The rack is tighter than I would like but that is all they gave me. I had to use a 4" in-line fan, a thermostatic switch, a low profile intake register in the toe-kick and an intake stack pipe at the back of the rack to aggressively vent the heat through the crawl to the outside.
