This has been addressed before< I'm sure. I have a customer with a Marantz 61" plasma, I have a Xantech remote extend system, have a micro link mounted in the in wall center channel speaker. Everything works fine except for the SC digital cable box, other equipment is Sony es, no problem with that. I tried different locations, tape, a table top on top of the cabinet facing away from the plasma. I need to know what plasma friendly "eye" I need, and can I just use it with the rest of the xantech stuff, or do I have to replace everything, can I just put a different emmitter on the cable box? I only want to do this once, I just want to make sure I get the right piece.
Thanks in advance.

cb1,
You could try one of the Xantech CFL friendly receivers which will reject a certain amount of Plasma interference, however their frequency range tends to be limited, and the SC digital cable box infra-red may be out of range and wont work.
A better bet would be the Xantech 490-90 micro link receiver which is as plasma friendly as they come and has a good frequency response.
As far as connection goes there shouldn't be any issues although the 490-90 comes with a connection block so will cost more.
Chris.

One thing on the cable box. I had one simular and the emmiter eye needs to be totally covered up. Try covering the entire front of the cable box and see if it does any good.

I am here also trying to find the best Plasma friendly IR receiver. So for the Audioplex has been the best, but not perfect. CB1- the model on the Audioplex piece is "X4056- plasma friendly". Get the whole package including power supply a must. Connect your emmitters in Parallel.

If the system you have works with all components except the cable box, why do you conclude that plasma interference is the problem? How does the plasma garbage keep from throwing itself into the mix when you are controlling the other stuff, but then come out from hiding when you try to control the cable box?
If you turn off the plasma, does the system control the cable box? Okay, if it does, then is it possible for any of the (IR or RF) garbage from the plasma to reach the cable box directly?

A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything. "The biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place." -- G. “Bernie” Shaw |

If the plasma is on the cable box sometimes works, sometimes not. If the plasma is off it works fine. Like i Ssaid before, everything works fine except for the HD SA cable box 3100.
I had read a post that Audioplex had traced a problem to the sensor inside the 3100 box, and were working on a fix.
The equip is in a cabinet next to the plasma. If I move the emmiter away from the box (pointing at it, not attached to it) it works alittle better.
I think its more the box than anything.

I have installed the audioplex IR It does work well, tho i have had to replace the stealh box on 2 different jobs. Make sure you get the 4056 model, the SC3100 cable boxes are running in the 56kh range and that is where i have had the issues as well. Tech support has also told me that if you move the IR bug on the cable box off to the side or on top (making the IR travel around the corner) that works to weaken the signal.I guess its too strong.

| .I guess its too strong. A.Plex claims too much signal is 90% of their I.R. problems. They do offer adjustable emmiters and they work. Better than having to weaken the signal via placement. CMack
