It could be a thank-you tip. It could be a strangely priced extended warranty. And who knows who got the better deal?

In the 70s, the salespeople and sometimes stock people were always doing small installations, and there were often jokes about what the small thing was that they were installing, and where.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.
