A way of proving that you are in the industry might be to fax an invoice from a supplier such as Capitol Sales, an AVAD distributor, etc. Anybody's but Worthington, since they aparently will sell to anybody, even if you are not in the business.

I like the idea and just registered. I am a CEDIA Certified Level 1 tech. A copy of industry certified training or other certification would verify that an individual is in the industry.

But all that stuff would require that Brijaws have a dedicated fax line just for us.

How bout an entrance exam?

1. The red wire is:

A. The pretty one.
B. Negative
C. Positive
D. Neutral

Just kidding with that, but it can't be that hard to filter the average homeowner, while allowing those of us that get paid to do this.

It would also allow more of the folks that are more than just casual hobbyists, that are hoping to get into the biz. but need some help.

Hey guys, an update - Iv got the site started and working out some of the bugs. All the feedback has been very positive and were are off to a really good start. I droped the old forum for the time being as i work on the new ones. The new site is found at the orig. host ip.

[Link: 66.159.163.6]

A few more days of of tweaking and we should be off. Hopefull we can lock into a DOMAIN NAME by that time. Im sticking with the "PROFESSIONAL SYSTEM INTEGRATORS WEBSITE" theme. Im thinking maybe PROSI.COM or somthing aloung these lines.

For thouse are are willing (and i got a few emails already) to help run the new site and admin - please let me know. The new site is loaded with features, and most features can only be viewed by REGISTERED MEMBERS, (i.e. downloads, links, reviews, photos, ect)

If you guy get the chance, check out the site - reg as a user - Im still having a email reply issue so if you dont hear back within 10mins of reg'in than email me.

Thanks

Brijaws,
this sounds like a great idea. You may have seen my irritation in my responses when consumers, even trained in computer stuff, decide to stroll through these threads and ask questions that a system integrator should be answering.

At first glance, the site you have set up looks pretty good, except the text is so small! I went to your cableing-technologies site and thought it looked pretty good, but I find the text too small there, also. I think Daniel has hit on the right size of just about everything.

okay, so I'm over 50 and was farsighted before I got glasses....

Just for a hoot, and DO NOT take this personally, check out the motto and the examples at www.websitesthatsuck.com.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Not taken personally at all...

As far as being too small, its all TEXT based - YOU need to goto your "EDIT" button in your browser and change your TEXT SIZE to LARGE or somthing.

Im running 1024x768 at home and it looks fine, I run 1280x1024 at the office and it looks fine as well.

Is anyone else having these issues?

There might ever been an adjusting in my settings on the website, Ill look into it.

I registered on 3-5, and now it won't let me in! It won't acknowledge my name and password, which I saved on my computer. Any suggestions?

Hey Greg, Iv been upgrading as the day has gone by. New Fourms, New Mods, ect.

I just checked, and i didnt see a GREG in the members list - try to RE REG as a NEW USER - If it says email already registerd, post here or email [email protected] and i will take care of it right away.

Hopefully by the end of the weekend i will have the FONDATION up running bug free.

I was also thinking about adding an IMAGE GALLERY as a MOD. Allow members to upload and showcase some of there projects. Good Idea? Please stop by and post your feedback in the forums.

It helps me test out any bugs.

I added a new MOD today that allows me to control new registered users. Right now there is no more EMAIL notification and you can creat your own psw.

I also can review new registered users before allowing them leveled access (i think)

Can you guys help me test this out, and reg if you have not already and if you have, POST in the forum so i know this is working.

Thanks.
