Hey guys I have a question. I was thinking about creating a website geared towards the "System Integrator" I have skilz in webdesign, and i can host .ASP, PHP an CGI scritps without problem. I have not found any sites of the system integrator nature, and think it could be a good thing.

I was wondering if anyone else is interested in the design and function, as well as administration of such a site. If you are, Email me.

If you think there are plenty of sites out there already than let me know as well. Iv been doing System Integration and Home Theater installs for about 3 years now, and havnt found anything decent and simply to find/use as far as information. What i was hoping to put together was:

(a) Multiple Message Forums (Home Theater Questions, Crestron, AMX, Phone Ssystem, Programing Questions, ECT)

(b) Links to industry requirments and upcoming trade events.

(c) Photo section (memebrs to share job photos and install tips)

(d) Files (all kinds from Images to Applications)

Let me know what you guys think, and how we can promote it if it is a good idea. Also, Any names for a site? I will REG the .com

I like the idea of a Systems integrator website and forum, as long as it was membership only or password protected for people in the business full time.
I may be schizophrenic, but at least I have each other.

Yes, We would definitly have a PSW protected forum and other misc areas. But not so restricted where it is a pain in the ass to sign up.

Any one else ??? I see this thread has 30+ VIEWS and only ONE reply? Come on guys!

Glad to hear you guys are down. Does someone want to toss out a few good names for the WEBSITE? Ill reg the name as soon as we get a good one (as long as its avail) - And ill start working on the templates and the Forums.

The best part of a good website is its ADMINS. Guys who are interested in maintaining the forums, and whatever updatable databases i create. Ill have some more information One i get the site up.

Any ideas on the requirements to be a memeber? And how we can validate it? Or maybe we will have LOCKED forums for members only?

Just kick me some ideas, so i can play around.

Sounds like a great idea.

Just from reading this forum over the last week or so, have thought what a great benefit it is to be able to tap into such a wide range of industry knowledge, and hopefully be able to make useful contributions as well.

A fair amount of our time is taken up monitoring both current and new technology, future trends, and industry standards. I would think that any resource that makes this quicker, easier, or more accurate, would be well supported by people and companies in the industry.

Certainly hope you'll allow for international membership.

PS as for the name, we could all join the "SIRCUS"
(System Integrators Resource Centre - United States)

Sorry, didn't check before I posted, better change my name suggestion to "AV SIRCUS". sircus.com and sircus.org already exist (nothing to do with systems integration though)

Brijaws,

Remember me from builder biz thread? I like your idea as I obviously spend a lot of time here. Try registering names under the ".tv" url. We got our company registered this way and it sounds kind of cool... "sircus.tv"

Please don't take offense to this... my partner is a bad speller too. I don't know if its just because you type too darn fast, but your posts are full of misspellings and while it really doesn't make a bunch of difference here in the forum it would look bad as host of a site. Just make sure to have the main page content proofread.

Good idea though... I'll keep watch and see how it goes.

rhm9 - LOL, Dude trust me i take no offence to the spelling thing. I type WAY too fast, and should definitly try slowing it down. Im well known for my mispellings in the WEBWORLD (everthing would be proff read ;) )

Any other ideas for names? Here is an idea of some Websites iv done.

www.cabling-technologies.com
www.dvdox.com
www.aikler.com
www.mk-u9.com
www.nuzziarchitects.com

Iv done alot more, and get better with ever site.

Brijaws,

I have an idea for the requirement for a password. How about CEDIA membership or PARA membership? These would be easy to verify and make the sign up process quick.
I really enjoy this site, but sometimes the pronto questions cause an itch.
I may be schizophrenic, but at least I have each other.

Well, Im not a MEMBER (as of today) of CEDIA. But those are the ideas that we can work with. It will be nice to filter out some shoppers and homeowners so we can realy talk shop.

Here is a LINK to the NEW FORUMS. I labled the page

PROFESSIONAL SYSTEM INTEGRATORS (P.S.I.)

Might be a cool name? Nothing is perm, and iv totaly open to anything. No one is gonna offend me by calling me a freak!

[Link: 66.159.163.6] <-- Go Reg and Post to help out.

Also, if you guys can spread the link around it would be great. Get off on a good foot. With good help, and good ideas.

Have you seen http://ce-installer.com ?

There is not a lot there yet and it seems pretty slow.
