McNasty, I have NO experience whatever with a Pronto, but I'll throw out a guess, based on my general electronics knowledge:
The Pronto programming codes are computer code, and not electrical pulses corresponding to the IR light pulses. So, no, it won't do what you want.
That being said, what you seem to want is a way for a laptop to emit IR pulses based on the remote codes.
I'm guessing from your question that you are an installer (....I recieve equipment a lot before the remote arrives....). What about investing in a remote that you keep with you for just this purpose, either pre-programmed or linked to the laptop, sort of a wired emitter with brains.
I've read mention here of a JP-something that is a serial cable that links learning remotes to computers that will teach the remote codes far beyond the normal remote's "vocabulary".
I'll bet that there will be several posts refering to what I mentioned very soon. Standby....
