The touch screen on my 9600 is not sensitive at all. I can press 3 times and not gett a response. Even with the stylus. Sometimes it will play the "Touch Mono" sound, most times it won't. It does not seem to be pressure sensitive. I can push hard or soft. With or without a fingernail.

I know sometimes with my TSU 3000, you can get a "miss" on the touchscreen. But this new one is really bad. Especially with the vairiable of sometimes getting the sound and sometimes not.

Is there some sort of sensitivity for the touchpad I can set?

Also, the IR transmitter does not seem to be as strong as the TSY 3000. Is that true?

Have you gone through the calibration process - if not, that might solve your problem.

The touchscreen on the TSU9600 is superior to that of the remotes in the Pronto NG line. The experience you are describing with your TSU9600 is not normal. I suggest redownloading the latest firmware to the remote for good measure, then calibrating the touchscreen. To open the calibration screen use the hard button combination, Backlight + Menu + FirmKey1.

Thaks for the fast response.

I had calibrated the screen initially, and have done so again.

I also updated the firmware. I got the remote a last week and it had the old firmware on it. The initial upload of the firmware failed, but the second succeded after I did a reset.

Obviously I am not an installer, so forgive the newbie. The other thing I have noticed is the controller is trying to connect to a network. I believe I have the network capability turned off, but it is still trying to connect. Perhaps that could be causing a problem. Otherwise, the touch screen is not working properly, at least in my opinion.

I did a test. I pressed the same button 10 times using a finger. Results:

1 no action
7 actions but no beep
2 actions with beeps

An activity button on the home page after 10 attempts using the stylus

5 no actions
4 actions but no beep
1 beep

I know this is not scientific, but there is a problem.

What should I try next guys?

The network capability is not turned off if it is trying to connect to the network. Go to the "Wireless Settings" tab found under the properties of the System device and make sure that the option, "Enable Wireless on Pronto Control Panel" is not checked. Also make sure there are no extenders selected on the Extenders tab.

A hunch...

I bet you are using buttons with transparent edges or text to the right/left of the button. Is that correct? If so, try pressing with the stylus on the text of the button. If that works, then you need to add a layer to your images of "white" and set the opacity to 1%. This way, you can press anywhere in the rectangle and get a touch recognition.

It could indeed be the remote but I'd suspect the graphics first.

Thanks,

I do have the wireless turned off, but still the same poor reaction from the screen.

This is a bit frustrating. Almost an intermittent problem. I can get it to work sometimes, but others I am getting no reaction.

ANy other things I can try?

Lyndel,

You nailed it. I just downloaded a different program and no button problems. Interesting. I would not have thought that button style would be the culprit. Great troubleshooting.
