Just to let you know, battery now replaced and it's working perfectly.

Once I managed to get hold of the correct size Torx screwdriver it went smoothly, your instructions are fine, although my TSU9600 did have one less screw than your photograph.

Opening the pronto was a bit nerve racking, you do have to put a bit of pressure on the case to get it to come apart, but taking it gently did the trick.

Thanks, Adam.

Did any others buying batteries from us have a good or bad experience opening their TSU9600? Just asking so we can modify our instuctions for replacing the TSU9600 battery.

Getting the Torx screwdriver was wize. I just got my new 9600 battery in the mail but am not able to unscrew any of the weird Torx screws on the remote. I did try a flat screwdriver as was suggested but was never able to get any screw to move at all. This is pretty bad, do not attempt without the appropriate screwdriver. All I have to do now is find the damned screwdriver somewhere; any ideas?

You need a T6 Torx. I was in a pinch a while back and picked one up at my local Radio Shack.

Yes, of course. I only tried hardware stores so far (unsuccessfully). Thanks.

Home Depot has some of the Made in China Husky kits for less than 10 USD that have torx.

I'm afraid not in Canada though. I found a kit for $20 (!!) at Radio Shack (now called TheSource over here).

With all the help from this forum, I was able to replace the battery without problem.

Thanks Lyndel.

Plenty of multi screwdriver systems available all over the web. I bought one on Amazon which had 32 bits, just about every variety, all precision, which included Torx in about 7-8 sizes. MaxTech Precision Mutil-Driver Set.

Yeah, this is an old thread, but hey --

More shameless "Free Advertising". Wow, does this mean I can list my specials and sales going on for free? Or do the rules apply for everyone but you?

Yes, he's paid for banner ads, but I don't even think it's necessary to lean on that to support his right and his rightness in all Dave has written here.

I mean, I agree with Jimmy's sentiment in general for vendors who decide to start threads with the only provocation being that they want to sell stuff. See most posts by ckleiman for prime examples of that crap.

In this case, though, Dave directly answered a member's question. Furthermore, there were some problems with the site and thus with purchases, and he came back here to make sure everyone got the service and the discount that had been promised.

If someone asks where to buy something I sell, should I not respond? In that case, any end user who asks how to install something should not be answered by any installer in his area. Imagine the software to make sure people only respond to questions far from their zip codes....
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Time to buy another battery for my remote...
Has anyone ordered the TSU9600 batteries from eBay?
They are much cheaper on eBay obviously.
