Dear beta testers,

I wonder if Remote Central has a possibility to collect suggestions for Product Improvements. I did a search without success in the forum. Maybe I'm looking at the wrong spot.

Suggestions should be approved by someone to avoid overwhelming information to the Prontoteam, to filter and to order according to importance. And of course they should be accessible by forum members.

The most urgent improvements relate to the waste of workload IMHO.
For example, already mentioned in the forum:
- properties in the enlarged screen
- font/color change via a prontoscript statement

One I would like to humbly suggest, if not yet suggested:
- the simulator should offer two windows, one like today, one with debugging info.
Debugging is the most time consuming in IMO, and the way one has to do it today
is a work around, far from ideal (difficult to read, background colors!).

Trust me, they get the info from the Beta testers, plus all the Distributers around the world send emails to them, in fact i have just sent a list to them today, from the installers/users in NZ, its happening all the time.. Just keep posting them on here or use the function in PEP1/2 "Report an issue" they do get them :), weather they can act on them is a differnet thing, but the more info/requests they get the more chance it will happen.

Rusty, you may not be aware but there are beta tester on this site most of the time...

In the simulator, Tools->"ProntoScript console", does this already. It (optionally) includes "System.print()" output, with or without a _PS_DEBUG_ panel on the current page.

hi Chris,

I know about todays debugging possibilities, and - with all due respect to the prontoteam who has done a terrific job on PEP2 by offering prontoscript testing, I would like to see a better debugging method covering activity property scripts for example, next to that it should be in a separate window. I do understand though that the prontoteam has to make development choices.

I find the current simulator to be a waste of time for most of my debugging. The reason is that there is no serial, IP or IR communication. If they would make the simulator communicate with the RFX9600, then it would be fine.

Currently, the only effective debugging means that I see (when using serial & IP) is to do the Pronto base modification that Barry has documented so well.

Thanks "gopronto",

I'm aware of the beta testers on this site, which is superb! This is one of the best forums I've seen, with professional people who are very helpful and who are to the point. I just wondered how the pro's amongst you manage to channel information hidden in threads. You must do a lot of reading ;). Thanks for your answer. Rusty.

Education and good search skills is the key.

Knowing the lingo helps out on searches.

Philips DOES watch this forum and I've echoed my concerns about PEPV2 to them repeatedly. FYI, that includes ALL suggestions by Rusty above plus about 30-40 more.

And, if there's a thread that comes up such as "remote making clicking sound" and "wifi lockups", I personally send an email privately and ask them to have a look. Quite honestly, the ProntoTeam (engineering) is rather small for a large company and they do get quite busy at times, hence I drop them a note now and then.

I highly doubt we will ever get a prontoscript developer-like editor such as TextPad or MS Visual Studio in PEP. Philips is not in business of dictating a JS Editor that must be used. Also, how do you integrate in those custom tools such as JSLint that is pretty much a staple for Javascript development?

Hence, they provide an option to save script to a file for external editing.

I also doubt that you will see IP comms in the simulator. Getting Windows to simulate Linux is probably difficult to do.

I think they did get the ip working with the simulator , but then realised what they had done.... think about it...................

You would not need a pornto anymore :) that would not be in there best interest..

Chris, I just discovered prontoscript console, and immediately realized I had to apologize, since I've only read your reply halfways. Sean Connery, and expecially his partner (of the other kind) was distracting me I guess. Had to find a reason why I missed this! :8) 8 = cheeks blushing.

Prontoscript console is indeed what I meant, and being a newbee in PS I did not discover it before. Also system.prints in activity scripting appear apparently.
Script debugging is also nicely foreseen. I have now a minimized debug panel hidden behind a button, because console offers all I need today. Rusty
