Hi Andre,

Good to chat, and thanks for your help with Pron2Chat
a few other areas of the Pronto.

I would like to request that other members take the opportunity
to test this software on behalf of Andre. It's a really
great piece of software, and he needs more users on-line
to test it thoroughly.

Andre, if you be best if we can agree some set times,
say 8.00pm (UK time) each night, that users can agree
on for testing. It may be worth considering a time when
both US and European users can chat.

Does this sound like a plan?

Cheers, Lee

Lee,

Great idea as I have not been able to test this side of it yet 8pm uk time is fine for me although would that not be a bit early over in the us.

Lee, chas
yup, it would be great if the betatesters could meet at at specific time.
I guess 8pm GMT could work, but since we have all kinds of timezones here, the members from the STATES or Australia (dz ;-) ) should be included in this "poll".
Let me know waht you think, guys.
Looking forward to a hopefully crowded chat.

--Bump!--
Funny thing is: I thought the main problems would be script or server related stuff, but it's quite simple:
We haven't managed to get more than 3 people online at the same time - total number of members is at 13, coming from all over the world.
I planned to end the testphase on Oct. 31, but if we get a few more betatesters I would prolong this for another month or so...
So, come on in, WE WANT YOU! ;-)
best wishes
André

Hi Andre,

If you post some dates and times, I'm sure people could put these into a diary (calendar on PC with reminder), and connect in...

Andre,

the module works fine.
Too bad there was nobody onlime when I tried. :(

I tried to import the 2 activities into my prontoscrit library, BUT when I drag them back to a fresh file some of the jumps dissapear, and it doesn't work anymore.
How do you merge the application with an existing project?

ps: I ended up starting with pront2chat.xcf and then added everything else into it. I can't just merge it the other way around for some strange reason.

Like I told you in my pm, it is a nice feature for people that have multiple remotes in their home to be able to text each other. It might also be nice to be able to stay on line until you manually log out. The system kicks me out after a few minutes of being idle. A buddy could then text you, and you get a pop up even if you are in a different page.
Possible, or bad idea?

I believe the disappearing jumps is a bug. See your other post, please and maybe email the team.

Correct. To be exact after 8 minutes of being idle. This is intentionally to avoid to many false online displays.

even if you are in a different page.

Possible - yes. Bad idea - no.
But something that would require a complete re-programming.
Right now, for every user online, a file is created. If there is no new message, this file is empty, else it contains the sender, recipient, timestamp and of course the message. The Pronto checks every nine seconds, if there is a new message. If yes, it gets downloaded and the user file cleared.
If a user logs out (or gets logged off automatically) this user file is deleted.
All this is managed by server sided php scripts.
When logged off, the Prontoscript does not look for new messages anymore.
What could be done is a one-line pop-up window. I guess this could also be made on a local network. A webbrowser-based input form could be used to communicate with every Pronto in the network.
But - based on the little interest in Pron2chat, I doubt that there is a greater demand for a LAN Messenger System.
I'd gladly be proven wrong.
;-)

PS. part of the answer is a direct reply to Doberman's PM. But I thought it might be of interest for the rest of you guys.
