I moved this discussion here because the folks on the Prontopro forum just get p'd-off that a superior solution is available. The new Ipaqs will be announced monday, but so far it is clear that they will come embedded with Nevo, the new remote control offering from Universal (see
www.mynevo.com).
let's compare specs (ipaq vs. pronto):
processor: intel xscale 400mHz vs. slow motorola 68328.
memory: 64MB SDRM, 48MB Flash vs. 512 SRAM, 8 MB flash.
Display: transflective active matrix 65K colors vs. FSTN 256 colors
IR range: 50 ft vs 33 ft (subject to testing)
batteries; 1400 mAh rechargable Li polymer vs recharg AAA pack.
These are just a few comparative notes on the hardware (not to mention expansion slots, bluetooth wireless, bundled applications, etc... Plus, you don't need a PC to program it!) When compared in this light, the ProntoPro looks obsolete, like that old 512K PC you threw out years ago. Yet the two are similarly priced!
