Ok, I'm going crazy trying to find a couple of codes for ORDesktop. Specifically, I have a Quasar SP2723, which is made by Panasonic and is identical to Panasonic's CT27G6. Anyone have discreet on/off codes for these? Also, ORDesktop came with a pre-defined Sony Receiver layout that works for my Receiver, except that it doesn't have a button that works for switching to TV/Sat input or 5.1 channel input. Anyone have a lead on those? Also, does anyone know why I can't get Omniremote to learn buttons for my Sony components? I've tried training it with the remotes from my reciever and DVD, and also a universal remote (All-for-one Cinima 6) that controls my components fine, but it will never correctly learn the code. When I open up the resulting buttons in ORDesktop, there is a code there, so it learned something, just not something that works. Anyway, thanks to anyone who helps out.

Lobo,
I also have an MX-500 remote and am attempting to use omni remote in conjuction with ORDesktop to get all of the right discrete codes for my MX-500. Thanks to PeterS' posts to this forum, I have obtained many good ones for my Sony TV. I can now turn my TV ON, OFF, and choose each Video input separately !!!BUT!!! the MX-500 will not learn the codes properly. I have 2 MX-500s and one learning remote that came with my Reciever, and none of them will learn these codes properly. Out of around 50 trys, the OFF command was successfully learned once. This tells me that it can work!!

The one thing I have not done, is buy an external IR transmitter for my Palm, but I don't want to waste $20 if it isn't going to make a difference. So after all of this babble, my question to you is do you use an external IR with your palm? Do you or anyone else have another explanation for this behavior.

Thanks in advance,
lucasb

PS. To anwer your question. If you haven't already, you can download Pronto Edit from http://www.prontoedit.com/ and then download tons of CCF files, then paste the codes into omniremote. As you can tell from this forum, it doesn't always work, but it seems to most of the time. -Enjoy

I too must give a thanks to PeterS for the discreet
codes for the Sony TVs. Now I can program my
MX-500 to the max!

BTW, I noticed that people haven't updated this
thread in a long time, is there anywhere else
to grab discreet codes for the OmniRemote or is
PeterS going to continue updating this thread?

Lucasb, I've done a little more playing around this weekend and discovered something interesting. It looks like the Palm might actually need that external IR transmitter in order for it to work better.

I programmed the Palm with the power on/off button for my Technics receiver and noticed that it would only work if I was only a few feet away from the component. The Palm however did not do this for the Sony TV I've got. It worked from clear across the room. So, I think that depending on what kind of code is programmed on the Palm, that will determine whether it works properly or not. In the end, I think that that external device would probably make a difference but I don't know if I would buy one. I know $20 is not much but still it's $20 that's wasted if it doesn't work like the way we want it to work.

I use a Mac and there are no Mac versions of Pronto Edit, CCF files, or ORdesktop. I know that I can probably use Virtual PC or buy a PC, but this is more work and trouble than I want to deal with.

Anyone mind posting on the web some of their favorite OmniRemote PDB files and listing the URL in this thread. Thanks!

PS. I already checked out the ORdesktop download page ([Link: ordesktop.com]).

PeterS,
Thanks for posting the discrete codes for Sony TV's! They work great. The only problem is I have one of the new XBR's and it actually has 6 inputs and you only listed the codes for 5. If you could post the code for the 6th, it would be much appreciated. Thanks!

I have a Sony Wega KV-27FS13. The remote that comes with the TV (RM-Y180) only cycles through the antenna input and then the four video inputs. But I have discrete codes for two out of four video inputs and the ANT input. I can use OmniRemote to get to those inputs directly, but I can't find the discrete codes for video 3 and 4. Below are the codes for ANT, VID 1 and VID 2. If anybody has the codes for VID 3 and VID 4, I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

If you are using OS X and looking for a ProntoEdit replacement, try Tonto. It's not incredibly user-friendly, but is very powerful.

Hi Every One. I know this may have been asked before but does any one know if there are discret codes for the Toshiba 36HFFX71 . It is there top line tube with 4x3 screen size . Having this info would be great if it exists.
Ps .Some people are wondering why certain Ir codes can not be learned by pda's in general. The problem that I have found is that a lot of codes that come out of certain remotes spit out more than one Ir code at a time so the strings are to long and just confuse the leaner so it just will not learn it . it is tricky but there is ways to fool the learner but it is all trial and arror .
This site is the best out there when it comes to info on this matter.
Keep up the good work

I have an MX-500 also.
I tried yesterday to learn some descrete codes from my Palm M500 into my MX-500. I got about 1 in 20 trys for both the on and off commands.
I was wondering if it was having trouble with the Palm or just the specific codes.
It would be nice if it worked reliably but for now I'm willing to deal with the frustration. Especially since I should only have to do it once.
I'm using OR Pro 2.03beta and OR Desktop to input descrete codes.

I'm glad I found this thread since I had just assumed that the decrete codes I tried on my Sony VCR were the wrong ones. I can't wait to get home and try the codes I got from this thread.

Maybe there should be a PDA area in the download section so we can post OR PDB files.

EDIT: These codes worked great. Thanks.

Hi, I'm looking for the codes of a Yamaha GX-70, I'm trying to control it with omniremote, but if you can provide ANY code would be great. I've been searching the files section for references to GX-70 but I did't find anything. Can you suggest me some other site or some equivalent product I should search for?
Thanks
