Hi There.

Is there a little help around?

I am updating my home system and have come a little stuck, I know its something simple, but its driving me nuts.
At the moment I use IR control from an mp2e to control my V+ Box. I decided I want to do it over Telnet because.. well... just because...
I can control the V+ with Putty but cannot for the life of me get it working in Simpl+. I have each command (IE, IRCODE PLAY) in my SIO, my rx ad tx connected to either a TCP/IP or UDP module with port 31339 open and enable set to 1. Yet the commands wont register at the V+ end???
Toolbox shows the string being sent, but nothing happens.

Can anybody suggest something, as I've spent hours on this simple little thing.

Seriously, how hard is it to send a Telnet command?

From what you are saying you are trying to use the IR codes to send over Telnet? This is not true as the Telnet code is different than the IR code, similar when trying to program something with RS232.
You can't fix stupid

How are you logging in?

If it is telnet there is usually a Username and Password that needs to be entered.

Also are you using SIMPL+ or SIMPL?

There is an analog off of the TCP/IP Client symbol that lets you know the connection status. Have you checked this signal to make sure the connection is being made?

Hi both,

SWO - those are not the IR codes, they go into the SIO and out via serial to ip. The codes are good as I have tested the control but Putty.

CYNICS - it's an open login, with putty I just open the port and paste the codes.
Admittedly I haven't set up the connection status symbol as I could see return codes via toolbox, so know it was connected. Also, as I was leaving the connection open it was flooding with messages.

check the IP address in the TCP/IP client symbol, try and ping the V+ from the processor.

Is that port correct?

you have a 1 on the TCP/IP_Connect signal on the client symbol?

Sounds like everything SHOULD be working....wait the commands are just ASCII?

Do you have the commands in the SIO ending with a \x0D? or do you have the Delimiter in the SIO set to \x0D?

I think your problem is you are NOT sending the carriage return in SIMPL

Cynic..

You sir are a legend!!!

I was using \r instead of \X0D. It now works perfectly. School boy error.
