I guess they can flash it with a new OS/firmware but why not just keep selling the standard piece to full line dealers with the ability to keep the SIMPL programming? Seems very odd to lure everyone of us in with all the damn Prodigy headaches them hand it over to everyone at AVAD?

Prodigy is like a bad relationship: she taunts you with her seductive movements, moving your desires like a whirpool until finally her very presence overtakes your mind ...then BAM.....the BIATCH steps out on you......:)

I just think its a bad time to do this. All the guys that picked Prodigy over the RTI or other options now might move on for the one room (+) systems.

Hell RTI has awesome handhelds and now they have the lower priced processors. Not to mention Integration designer (which I don't know at all) that no one complains about.

Just a bad idea. They couldn't have had that many issues with the tech support. It could have been addressed in other ways but he its their loss.

I agree....but they obviously know something we don't. Time will tell if this move was good or bad for them. I , for one, don't and won't deal with that particular distributor.

I would use the prodigy distribution solution if it stated we could always use simpl.

This announcement re distribution only applies to USA, as this is the only market where AVAD operates?

If so, how can there be a wholesale change in anything but model numbers, without killing the prodigy line in the rest of the world, which I'm guessing is forming a larger part of sales as times goes on (Asia etc)

Yes, I believe you are correct. I wouldn't be a stretch to think that Crestron will be looking for distribution there as well.

Heard a strange rumor that BlackBox was going to distribute Prodigy as well. WTF?

That would take a long time and there aren't any equivalent ditributors that have the same scale in a large region - in the interim they aren't going to scrap prodigy in the rest of the world?

Crestron Europe says it's business as usual with prodigy, is just a change in how it's distributed in USA

Hello everyone. We’re seeing a lot of questions regarding the move of Prodigy to distribution. As part of this decision, we're providing Crestron versions for each of the Prodigy products at competitive pricing. For example, the Crestron MLX-3 to be comparable to the Prodigy PLX-3; the MC3 comparable to the PMC3, the C2N-AMP-4x100 instead of the PAMP-4x100, and so forth. Now, you truly only need one brand, Crestron, for all your projects regardless of size or budget. And with that, you get a full scalable platform on which to grow. You don’t have to worry about hitting a dead-end or bridging to another system. Also, all these new products will work with SIMPL and VT Pro-e just as you would expect. No composer or SystemBuilder. If you have any questions, we invite you to give us a call at 888-CRESTRON.
Crestron is committed to its dealers, partners and end users around the world.

First off all, thank you CrestronHQ for chiming in. I think many integrators really value when manufactures take the time to participate in these forums. It is a great tool and resource. For some of us these forums our in our top 3 resources for developing our business and creating reliable, great user experiences.

So again, thank you.

ON this, I haven't heard for sure on the pricing other than they pricing will be simliar. I know the MLX3 and MTX3 are comparable. The new full line PAMP version is still TBA.

The ONE thing that I'm concerned about is the lack of an entry level processor. From what I understand the MC3 is more powerful than the Prodigy's PMC3. I also know that the current MC3 retails for twice that of the PMC3.

PRodigy has been successful in my opinion because of its well featured, but limited, entry level processor. Is there any word if there will be a price change on the MC3 or if there will be a lower end version that is simliar to the PMC3 to keep the pricing competive.

The fact is that the current MC3 pricing paired with any of the Crestron remotes is just too high to keep Crestron in every project (which is what we want).

Thanks again for participating.

Does this mean Systembuilder is dead?

I believe CrestronHQ means you are not limited to using only Prodigy Composer or System Builder with the new Crestron versions of the Prodigy products. The Crestron versions can be programmmed in all programming environments.

Good news for dealers, caips and customers!

Without wishing to derail or hijack the thread, does anyone have any insights into when Crestron will fully roll out the product line to the major overseas markets? I am not talking about anything with a "3" in front of it (that remains a pipe dream for now), I am more interested in things like 240v versions of the Infinet EX range of dimmers and switches, for example.

It seems anything that requires a direct connection to the mains, as opposed to using a power supply or Cresnet, only gets released in 110v. It's intensely frustrating to install Infinet EX gateways and only be able to use battery powered remote controls on them.

I welcome all good news in this respect!

Marc
