I am designing a system that will use prodigy to run a/v distro throughout a home. Audio is no issue. Distro video will require a bit more programming, but I am confident that I can manage.
The issue is controlling the remote TVs. Since Crestron is all RF, I need an emitter or serial on each TV.

So, the Global Cache iTach line looks great for this. The module that exists is only in Simple. It doesn't look like it would be very easy to convert like a basic serial module.

Is there a SystemBuilder module out there already?

Is there another option that I should consider?

Having a control box next to the remote TV is key in this situation.

How many IR/232 Devices do you have? I believe the i/o outputs can do 3 emitters each (I even once heard up to 5 short range).

That said, I'm interested in this also.

Crestron makes a passive 1 in 5 out IR splitter.

good ways around it, but the retro will not allow an easy route for new wiring.
i was planning on using ethernet-over-power adapters and a network device to relay the commands. That's why the global cache would have worked out well, but I don't see a systembuilder module available.
Is there another option out there?

You should be able to do 4 or 5 emitters per port with ir blocks. That allows for 5 different routes. Splice ir or rs232 over 1 or 2 pairs of cat5. No need for global cache.

That works if the devices don't share any commands. If they do then you get lots of issues. I amtrying to get itachs working with crestron there is a module for GC100 which i am going to try with the itach (can download from GC website)
IR+IP = RIP?

You mean it has the same effect as every other IR device out there if sharing commands on the same port? Wow.

Hi, I wrote a Crestron module that reads native Crestron IR files, converts and sends them to your Global Cache device. There's a one time download fee but the code is open, and can be used as much as you like after that.
There's a direct link at [Link: solutionav.com.au].
