You should be able to do 4 or 5 emitters per port with ir blocks. That allows for 5 different routes. Splice ir or rs232 over 1 or 2 pairs of cat5. No need for global cache.
That works if the devices don't share any commands. If they do then you get lots of issues. I amtrying to get itachs working with crestron there is a module for GC100 which i am going to try with the itach (can download from GC website)
