I have a TViX 4100sh media streaming unit. I can't find codes anywhere so I setup a device and learned all the buttons. The only button on the remote for power is a toggle. Yuck. So I did some research and have been told that the discrete codes for power for this device are:

On -> 0x96 0x44 0x00 0x00
Off -> 0x96 0x37 0x00 0x00

(additional info here: [Link: dvico.com] )

How would I go about getting those into my MX-900? There doesn't seem to be an easy way in the editor to see or edit the Hex codes associated with a particular function.

I tried using ProntoEdit to enter the code and save as a CCF then user the Universal Browser, but you can only import Learned codes and one I typed in doesn't seem to qualify.

And is what I have above enough? Seems to me that most codes I have seen have more to them than that.

TIA!!

The only type of hex that the UB will accept, either directly or via a CCF, is Pronto hex that begins with 0000. You need to convert your commands to thaty Pronto hex form. Johnsfine (a regular poster on RC) is the resident expert with this conversion, so you might want to post this in the "Discrete Hunter" forum or contact him directly. Here's another thread where the same codes were addressed by John, but not in the form you need: [Link: remotecentral.com]

I was already reading this thread (and doing the search to find that other thread) when Mike's post appeared here.

We can keep this conversation here, rather than Discrete Hunter.

I'll have an answer using MakeHex shortly.

On -> 0x96 0x44 0x00 0x00 translates to:

0000 006D 0022 0002 0157 00AC 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0689 0157 0056 0015 0E94

Off -> 0x96 0x37 0x00 0x00 translates to:

0000 006D 0022 0002 0157 00AC 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0689 0157 0056 0015 0E94

FANTASTIC! Thanks!!

Now, how would I go about getting these into the MX-900? There is no direct entry that I am aware of like there was with the Pronto, and the Universal Browser seems to only let you bring in Learned codes from ccf files, not ones you typed in (at least as far as I know).

The ones I posted are what the Universal Browser calls "Learned" codes. So if you insert them into a ccf file with ProntoEdit, you can drag from there via Universal browser.

Some versions of ProntoEdit translate the form I posted into a condensed code beginning "900A" instead of "0000". Those the Universal Browser doesn't understand. If you can't find a ProntoEdit that doesn't do that, ask again. There is another way using IrPanels.

Ok, got the codes in using ProntoEdit and the Universal Browser. Pretty easy (once you created the right hex for me!!).

The Power On works great. Cuts the unit on and once on, pushing again does nothing.

The Power Off however isn't working at all. That is what someone else gave me, but doesn't seem to be working. In my original post, I have a link to the device manufacturers supposed specs on this device. Can you make sense of what the code is supposed to be? K1 is the power button.

I'm going to ask the person to confirm the power off code, but if you have any ideas, I'd appreciate it!

That PDF file clearly states the 44 for Discrete On and the 37 for discrete Off. It clearly states the 96 for every other function. But the notice "HD M-4100SH, HD M-5100SH Only" for the discretes takes up the place the 96 would have been in the table.

So it is a reasonable guess that the discretes use 96 the same as all the other commands, especially since that worked for discrete On.

I don't have any idea why the documented discrete Off didn't work for you.

However, notice this comment in that other thread:

The second code (900A 006D 0000 0001 20DF 4EB1) will only turn the unit off.
If the unit is off it has no effect no matter how many times you press it.

That code (which is not the documented discrete off, but the second half of the documented power toggle) is acting like a discrete off for that model. Maybe it will do the same for your model.

In the form of Pronto Hex that Universal Browser understands, that code is:

0000 006D 0022 0002 0157 00AC 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0689 0157 0056 0015 0E94

Thanks! I'll double check that I didn't copy it wrong or something. And then I'll try The one you just posted.

I do REALLY appreciate your help!

The last one you posted works like a champ. Works as a discrete off.

Thanks again!!

Run a live update. The latest update added direct hex entry.

Or Pronto Edit works just as well.

Dear John,

I also have a TVIX mediastreamer and want to program its codes into my Marantz RC-9500. I downloaded your MakeHex program to try to calculate the rest of the Tvix remote codes. Which IRP file did you use to make the conversion from Unicode hex?

Doesn't an RC-9500 understand the 900A format of Pronto Hex that lets you enter these signals directly, without translating via MakeHex?

I seem to have misplaced the .irp file I made for this thread. Maybe I'll have time later to redo it.

Thanks for your swift answer!

I have all the codes for the Tvix remote in the format :Custome code 0x96 Data 6E ( the code for the OK/Play button) from the pdf taken from Dvico´s home page.
What I haven`t figured out is how to convert this format into something that the Marantz Wizz.it program can understand.
You did just that with the discrete on/off commands, and I have searched the net for a solution to this problem for quite some time. That is why I turn to you for help.

Thanks in advance,

Jan.
