What exactly do you mean by "compatible"?

I am assuming that he has an MX850 in the main room and would like to be able to program a second remote for the bedroom while utilizing the bedroom remote for zone 2 functions or as a second/spare remote for the main rooms utilizing the MRF.
Am I even close?
If so, hand propgrammed URC remotes are your only cheaper option but they are a pain in the ass.
Just get a good deal on an 850 or 900

If you at all want to stick with a computer programmable model... the MX-850 is already your cheapest option, unless you happen to dig up a cheaper MX-800 somewhere.

Go with the most reliable (believe it or not) remote on the URC line - the MX-350 Osirius. You can probably pick one up for $100, and you can customize it enough to do the job in the bedroom. Not as big as the 850 and the buttons are in very logical spots. Vincent I am assuming that he has an MX850 in the main room and would like to be able to program a second remote for the bedroom while utilizing the bedroom remote for zone 2 functions or as a second/spare remote for the main rooms utilizing the MRF.

The only problem with the osiris is it's a wideband, not narrow band remote.
It was my go-to remote for small bedroom systems. It could work the TV/DTV boxes in that location and turn on/off and adjust volume in the Master bed/bath areas.
With all the problems I've had with RF interference, I only use the narrow band base stations now, so there is a hole in URC's lineup for a cheap bedroom remote.

I have no idea why, but once you add the other remotes to the mix, problems start. Get the MX-350, I have never seen anything that is not prone to interference, even with the narrow band.

MX900/MRF350 is very nice and I have never had any issues with RTI. "Prone" is an interesting choice of words. All RF is "prone" to interference, some are much less "prone" too it.

List current gear and what rooms the gear is being used in. What MRF you have and where it is. Is any gear in each room the same or even the same manny? You may need to utilize RF/IR routing. See page 31 of your manual.

as of 11/06 the mx-350 is narrow band. I also use this for inexpensive tv, cable, dvd systems only.. if audio is involved they get the mx900/mrf350. no more rf problems..

Isnt that why the OP should go for an 850. The guy asked for a cheap remote. The MX-900 is cheap relative to the market, but not a cheap remote. I see no difference between this and the MX-350 in field tests. Lucky, maybe. But not much different. No offense, but maybe thats because you are selling the MX350. MX900/MRF350 is very nice and I have never had any issues with RTI. FYI - I sell everything. I could care less what he buys. "Prone" is an interesting choice of words. All RF is "prone" to interference, some are much less "prone" too it. enlightening.

skynyrdfan, Have you tested the MX-350 with a MRF-350/400 base station?
When I asked this specific question to the URC Training guy he said on the 900 and up were narrow band. I haven't tried it, so I'm hoping you have.
