I installed the MRF-300 in a condo in Chicago RFX-150 attached to it the problem is that the RF light is always on it meens that I can not transfer RF signals from any remote that I have I found a spot that the RF light went off and it is on the floor in the middle of the Living Room and the sigle is on minimum it means that the RF signal that comes from the remote has to be not far from the RFX-150 more than 3 feet
Please your help to fix it and work with this system normaly.

Swap out the antenna for an RF-250 or upgrade to the MRF-350 which ships with the MF-250. This will probably solve your problem, but since the RF-250 is narrow band, it will only work with the 900/950/1000/3000 remotes.

is the light always lit WITHOUT any emitters connected? Most people skip this part. If you zip tie the emiiter wires with your video wires, you'll be done in.

Set base to channel 0 to test for a clean location. Then, switch to some other channel.

One of the problems with installing in downtown Chicago, is that there are paging towers that broadcast in the same 418/430 that are the same range as Universal's RF receivers.

So, we always use IR repeaters when we install in Chicago.

It is possible to get it to work with the RF but you'll probably have a service call in the future.

I usually don't have a problem as long as I have my .3 to .5 sec pauses put in my macros.

I just saw a forum, they add to their system a Ferrite cores on the IR emitter cables, do you think it will work?

Do what oex said above. That'll determine whether ferrite cores will be effective.

a couple things improved things alot for me, I went from 98% command reception to about 99.5%

try these is no particular order

1) do all the things above, set base to sniffing position and find best spot for ant.

2)replace the standard cable that connects the receiver to the base with a nice shielded cable, something from Belden, make your own and hardwire it to both pieces via the screw mounts

3)put a ferrite core snap on unit around the end of the new cable connecting the units at the end of the cable that connects to the base, loop the cable thru the filter

4)route ir emitter cables separate from everything else(video audio etc.) as much as possible

5)bundle ir emitter cables together at the base end and snap on another ferrite core filter as close to base as possible

6)snap on a ferrite core filter on the power cable going to the base, at the base end right near the plug-in on the rear

7)move the base away from equipment

you should be golden after all this

OK -

Remove all ir emitters.

Turn antenna sensitivity all the way down (Counterclockwise)

Pull MRF unit from rack and away from any equipment.

Turn off all gear(Cd players, AVR, Cable box, etc) except mrf unit.

Set MRF to channel 0(sniff mode), Channel adjustment made on bottom of unit

Be certain that the cable from the MRF to the antenna is not zip tied or bundled with any other wire for testing purposes.

Now, with the antenna away from the gear, does the status led, light/blink/flash?

YES - your screwed. Try an MRF350

No? - your in luck. Then do this

Turn on gear, on piece at a time. After turning on each piece, move the antenna around the gear and look for the status LED on the MRF to light. You'll notice that it will flicker when placed near a DVD player that is on, the cable box, maybe the video cables. Don't just test the components but the wiring associated with each piece.

After spending 10 minutes doing this, you'll have a real good idea, what in your system is causing stray RF. Mount the MRF and antenna AWAY from these pieces. Route all wiring away from these pieces too. Also observe wires in the system emitting RF and avoid running emitter wires and the antenna wire with them.

Let us know.
