My brother just bought a 37" LCD TV from Circuit City. The brand name is Element. I've never heard of Element before, so I'm assuming it's some sort of house brand. Does anyone happen to know who makes this set for them, or what codes might work?

Element?

I thought that was a Honda......

I suppose you could ask someone at CC? Nah, don't bother, they wouldn't have a clue.

"I need the discrete codes."

"The what?"

"You know, The separate on/off codes."

"Huh?"

I just purchased the FLX-1910 @ CircuitCity ... a great TV but my DirecTV remote could not be programmed to recognize it. I called Element Electronics tech support and was told that there was no universal remote code ... and there were no plans to make one available in the future .... soooooooo I returned the TV to CircuitCity for a refund and will find a brand that has available codes. Element Electronics must really be stupid ... how difficult could it be to resolve this .... Oh, well .... their problem!!!

LOL.. i have actually carried a pronto in with me to bestbuy to make sure discrete commands work with TV's before i tell people to but them. You should see the look on the BB guys faces when the whole section of samsungs shut off while im pointing an unkown device at them. Once i was stopped at the door because they thought i was stealing the pronto.

Some models use a very old codeset, try goldstar r lg codes. The other Elements use a new one that only Proview sets also use.

In the white direct remotes that would be either 10178 or 10835.

Swing by the CC I work at and we can talk about how my MX-980 is controlling 8 sources in 4 zones. Or maybe you need some help with variables. I could explain how I've got it so that my wife and 11 year old neice can use it/them without a problem. We could also chat about the 900's or 880 which I've got set up for either individual zones or as complete system control. Not everybody @ CC is a dullard. :-p

The first thing I would ask if someone needed descretes for an element TV is, "Why the hell did you buy an Element??". URC remotes and Element TVs should not even be mentioned in the same sentence!!

I can't believe I just admitted I work @ CC (rolling eyes). Times are tough, and sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.

For the 15", the code is 1083....I kept adding the 5, as someone above suggested, but, it would turn the TV off...so, I knew I was on to something. I just went through all the suggested codes on this page and eventually the 1083 set worked. Thanks for the suggestions!!

Apparently, Element TV's are made by Funai? They have the same universal remote code as Emerson ... if you have Direct TV, I was able to get my remote programmed by using the Emerson code, "10178." I found this information by researching the Element TV on Google, where I was given the code "0178", and used Emerson TV name to see what other codes were available. Hope this helps!

Wow. A new "go to" brand emerges.

I have an element model ELDFT321. I tried and tried to program my directv remote for it with no success. If you go to elementelectronics.com there is an update available for certain models. Mine of course one of the models that needed it. Once the tv was updated i used the 10178 and it worked. You have to unzip the file to a usb that is totally empty. Follow the instructions and you should have success.
There updates and installtions for mp3, blu ray players, and digital imaging as well.
