I have across some treads mentioning the ability to input hex codes directly to the universal remote control software via the UB. After trying it on my own with no success what so ever, I thought it was time to ask the professionals. Can any of you guys please detail where in the UB I can paste hex codes I copy from the pronto data base in this website? Which URC allow this feature?

Thanks

1) If you don't have the version of the MX editor that allows direct paste of Pronto Hex, you can find or build a CCF file with the codes you want. Then in Universal Browser you can open that CCF file and drag the desired signals from the CCF file to your MX configuration.

If you only found Pronto Hex strings (not a CCF file) there are instructions in several threads here to get ProntoEdit and use it to create a CCF file and paste in those Pronto Hex strings.

ProntoEdit is a big download and not too easy to learn to use, so you might find it easier to use IrPanels possibly using MakeHex to create the input for IrPanels. Those are both small simple programs, also discussed in several threads here. If you tell me the URL for the Pronto Hex strings you want to import, I probably can give some more specific instructions.

2) If you do have the right version of the MX editor for direct paste and just don't know how to use it, hopefully someone else will help. I've never seen that version and don't know how to use it.

Jhon,
Thank you for your help. Is the version of MX which allows this feature an old version or new version software. Is this something URC used to allowed but are not doing anymore?
Since I have your attention, I wanted to ask about two discrete codes I want, for the XBR series TVs went operating the Picture Mode command I can cycle between VIVID, STANDARD and CUSTOM. Do you think that there could be discrete codes for these three functions? I would like to used them as Night and Day time watching modes?
Thanks!!

New and, so far as I know, distributed only through authorized dealers, not direct to end users.

The XBR is a Sony?

The main source I know for Sony TV IR signal info is here:

Since I don't have such a TV, I don't know how to relate the function names in that list to actual functions such as you describe.

If you want to try any or all of the signals in that list, you can use MakeHex plus IrPanels or Hex2CCF to put them in a form you can access with universal browser.

The old editors (at least some of them anyway, such as the MX-850) actually have direct hex import. After getting the Live Update Software, it disappeared. Supposedly it's coming back. But for now I use the old software to import hex.

I have the files to make the MX-3000 editor directly use hex with the UB.

I called URC today and ask them about the software as I'm a dealer for URC. They told me that the Complete Control software was first release with this feature but due to some problems with it they removed it from the software. That at the moment they do not have any version of the software capable of doing this.

Yes the XBR is the Bravia series of LCD TVs from sony

Thanks!

What About the files to make the MX-900? Would you mind e-mailing those files to me?

Thanks!

I only have the files for the MX-3000 Editor and don't know if they would work for the 900 Editor.

Do I need to be an authorized Phillips Pronto dealer to get ProntoEdit?

No. You can download it from:

But if you're trying to get the set of codes discussed in this thread into CCF files for universal browser, I still think that would be easier using MakeHex plus either IRPanels or Hex2CCF. (That assumes you've never made a CCF file either way before. If you've made CCF files before, it will be easier to do it the way you know).
