Hey everyone.

I became a big fan of URC when I bought the URC-200 Automator remote. Later I needed a second remote and ended up getting the RF-20 but was disgusted with this remote and hate its mushy buttons and lousy navigation pad.

I figured I was done with URC remotes until I saw that they have a professional line and that the MX-350 looks like the URC-200. Not really knowing anything about advanced remotes (but willing to spend time learning if I buy), I was wondering if anyone would be so kind to list how the MX-900 differs from the MX-350. Too bad you can't check out these remotes out in the store.

The URC-200 seems like the perfect remote for me. I have no real complaints about it. But out of curiosity, what would the MX-900 give me and what scenarios would make getting the MX-900 a real boon?

Thx everyone

Firstly, the MX-900 is completely programmable and has a USB interface.
The MX-850 is heads and tails better than the MX-350 and most people will agree that the MX-900 is an improvement over the MX-850.
If you want a solid, awesome feeling remote that is completely PC programmable then get the MX-900.

FYI: The A/V chain "Tweeters" carries the MX 850/900/950/1000/3000 in stores.

I've never programmed a remote with my puter. If i understand correctly I don't need the "original" component remote with the 900 like I would with the 350?

Could you explain or maybe direct me to where the advantages of programming and how to do it is explained?

No, you don't need the original remotes. It is completely point & click and you can make very complex macros (chains of IR commands to different devices with time delays, etc). Via the computer it is 100% customizable.
I would feel claustrophobic with a remote I couldn't program!

nmaynan, I just sent you an email with an info sheet I had put together for my MX-700 (also applies to the 900) becuase several of my friends wanted to understand how the thing works.

I'm with Grimdeath here - programming a remote on the PC pretty much precludes anyother remotes that can't be programmed.

Here, here. Macros & discrete codes that actually work! PC programmable is the only way to go.
