Last time I programmed my MX-780 was about 5 years ago after I bought it from Surfremote- it took a little struggle and help from Surfremote CS but I was able to program the remote to control my TV, Cable box, AVR and VCR/DVD.
I just ordered a Roku Ultra which is supposed to be compatible with IR remotes.
I struggled again initially with programming the Roku into the new program, but was eventually able to recall the process and programmed the macro to switch TV and AVR on and to proper inputs.
URC does have codes for RRoku but it says "roku 1", "Roku 2", etc. and does not specify which code is for what box.
I chose the "Roku 3" b/c it has the least amount of buttons/commands.
I wonder if I can program certain shortcuts into the page labels- like Netflix, etc. to show up on the page 1.
Also, does anyone know which set of commands in URC database I should use for the ultra model- "1", "2", or "3"?
Thanks for quick replies- I changed the set up to Aux 839 but I do not see the labels on the Roku's screen.
When I am on the 2nd main page "Devices" and I press "TV" I have my labels like "picture size', "source", etc.
I went to Roku's page 1 - it was blank.
I "managed" to create 3 labels for the AVR on the first page ( sub woofer level ("SUB"), increase sub level ("go UP"), and to decrease the sub level ("go Down"), and attached appropriate commands to those lebels from AVR's menu- my AVR allows to increase/decrease level only after pressing the SUB button.
But none of my devices have labels for Netflix, etc.
I see the "neflix" command in the Aux 839 IR set, but what is the corresponding button on MX-780?
Under the "Program" tab, select "Database". That should pop-up the program window on the "IR Data" page. Under the "Devices" drop down, select your Roku player. Then on the "IR Data From" drop down, select AUX, and then type 839 in the "Enter Setup Number" field to the right of that drop down. Then click "Save All" to pre-populate the Roku Device page with all of the IR functions that URC has under the AUX 839 codeset. From there, you can move the buttons around, if you don't like the default layout, under the "3. Edit Buttons" tab within the Program window.
Alternatively, if you don't want to pre-populate the Roku device page with all of the AUX 839 presets, you can add individual buttons as desired by selection "Edit Buttons", type select the roku player in the "Device" drop down winder, and then enter in the name that you want for the button. Then exit click "save" and exit out of the program window. Under the "Model Designer" window on the left side of the screen, click on Page 1 of the Roku player. On the right side of the screen, find the "IR Database Navigator" tab, and then type in AUX 839 in the "IR Data From" drop down. From there, it should populate all the available codes under AUX 839. You can simply drag and drop the command to the button label you created above. (Or click on the button, and then drag and down the command into the "Macro" tab on the bottom right of the screen.
