Hi jfs95,

Your method #2 worked- now there are 6 "soft" buttons. Not necessary all I want but that is not the biggest problem.

I tried to load the new file onto the remote and the remote would not connect to either laptop or desktop- both are running Win7 Pro 64-bits.

The windows installed the remote as an "unknown device" and it would not connect.

Then, I tried installing drivers from MX-880 and even after the drivers installed, I received the following message: "Device error- device cannot start (error 10)''.

I cannot remember if I did the initial programming of the MX-780 using the current desktop or if I used an old Dell desktop with Win XP.

In any case, I now need help in connecting the remote to the computer(s).

I e-mailed the Surfremote where I bought the MX-780. Hopefully, they can point me into the right direction.

Or someone here would be able to help...

Anyway, thanks a lot
