Is there any such animal for this TV? It would make life alot easier if I could control the TV without toggling the power switch.

I'm assuming you are being serious and not trying to bust our balls. Sony TV's are some of the best for discrete functionality across just about all models. The first model under Sony TV device works for 99.99% or use the KDS-R60XBR1 if you want.

Sony TV discrete power codes have been the same for over 20 years now. :-)

I guess I don't yet understand the language here. I was trying to find a code that eliminates the "toggle" feature of the power button. I had thought that some products have "hidden" codes that allow you to have an addressable "on" and "off" button for the remote.

I guess what they are saying is that Sony has been very consistant with their ir codes that it's fairly well documented. You can find the Pronto hex code for them in the file section of this site:

or you can find an exhaustive list of Sony codes for almost any Sony device here:

I think that is correct. If you go to Tools and Make MY IR DB, you can load the IR DB for the Sony KDS R60 XBR1. While it is not the exact model match, Sony's TV codes, especially for power "on" and power "off", have remained pretty consistent over the years. In the KDS R60 XBR1 database for IR, you will see toward the end "P-on" and "P-off". Those are the power on and power off discrete codes. 99% chance they will work for your model number. If not, try some of the other models by Sony.

Thanks Chris,
I just recently tried playing with "my IR DB" but am confused. When I open the window its blank so how do you get the KDS R60 XBR2 codes to come up?

Sounds like you need to populate your IR database. To populate your database, go to "Tools" at the top of the screen. Inside "Tools" go to "Make My IR DB". Select what type of product is at Issue in the "IR Data from" window, i.e. audio, dvd, dvr, sat, tv, cable, etc. That will cause the list of brands to change in the Brand window. Next, select the brand for that product type. That will list the available models in the bottom window. Click on the model number for the item you want. You will see two buttons directly to the right of the model window. One with an arrow pointing to the left and the other with an arrow to the right. The one to the right puts the model's IR database into your IR pre-programmed database. Click on that and you'll see it listed on the right side in "Selected Model" window. Now, close out of that and go to the button "Pre-programmed IR DB". Click on the radio button "My IR DB" and follow the pull down windows.

^^Ya bet me to it..... I spent too much time typing.... : )

Don't worry about the "MY IR DB" thing for right now. The software has a huge IR database built in to it, and you have the ability to make a sort of "Favorites" list of the devices you use the most and add those to your "MY IR DB" , so that next time you go to program you pull your personal database and don't have to sort through other brands that you never use.

Do this:
- In the software make sure you have a "TV" device created (or whatever you named it).
-Go to the "Program" menu at the top and select the 3rd choice --> "Pre-programmed IR Database"
-The "Preprogrammed" button should be checked, if not check it and then select your TV device, in the other drop down boxes tell it that it's a TV device and then a Sony, and then you should see a bunch of Sony TV model #'s, the KDS-R60XBR should be there. Select it and hit "Save all"

Now when you go to your TV device it has put in the codes that were in the database for that specific TV. If you're using the default mx3000 layout then you could be confused by the fact that even though the layout has separate ON and OFF buttons at the top of the screen, by default those are both preprogrammed for the toggle power command. If you hove your mouse over one of those buttons you can see if says something like "P-ON" or just "POWER". With some devices those are preprogrammed with the discrete on and off commands, but I've some devices like this one where the power toggle has been assigned to those on and off buttons. If you see that this is the case then usually there are separate discrete on and off commands on one of the other pages. For this TV look on page 4 and you should see the P-ON and P-OFF buttons and you'd want to use those in your macros instead of the other power buttons you see on all the other pages.
