I've got a strange problem with my 2-year old MX-890. I've not changed the CCP file for the MX-890, but the remote has started behaving erratically. As an example some buttons work as expected ("down" and "right" work fine) on all devices but other similar buttons such as "up" on all devices sends the wrong command and pressing the "up" button always highlights the soft button in the lower left corner of the LCD screen on all devices.

I've reset the remote to factory defaults, reinstalled my setup, removed the battery etc. created a brand new small test version of my setup and installed that to see if my original CCP file was somehow corrupted etc.. That is, all sorts of typical troubleshooting steps. I'm out of ideas. It seems as if something has been corrupted in the remote internals, but I am at a loss.

Any ideas? My thanks in advance.

"Reinstalled my setup", meaning a new download to the remote?

Did you try dumping CCP and reloading it onto your laptop, then build a new file?

Otherwise, sounds like a call to Tech Support...

I was wondering if you got any resolution for this problem? I have a URC mx890 that is doing the same thing.
Directional button presses actually trigger the On Screen Display buttons, Guide, Info and Menu also trigger the On Screen Display buttons.

I've factory reset the device from the settings menu, even at the factory default demo the key presses trigger the same events.

I've reloaded the file, as well as built a new file anyone able to offer any advice or suggestions?

Try deleting the command from the button and dragging the same command over from the IRDB. See if it corrects the issue. I was on a job this week with a 890 and the top two soft key buttons, when pressed, was triggering the opposite buttons command (including it highlighted the opposite button). In other words, pressing the top left soft key button would trigger the top right soft key button command. Deleting the commands and dragging over the correct commands fixed this. Actually, I deleted both buttons, not just commands. I copied another button, pasted it in those two soft key locations, and then dragged the correct command from the IRDB on top of those buttons. This fixed it.

This was only occurring on one device.

I'll give this a try again , I'm unsure at this point if its a software issue. Even after a factory reset the problem would persist.

The left directional , keys the top left soft key , the right directional, triggers either exit or the middle left soft key, guide will trigger right middle softkey etc.

What's also odd is that at times it will send the correct code that corresponds to the key press, so its not as if its simply the wrong IR code assigned to the wrong key.

To me it seems as if there's a physical or hardware failure.

Either load a new file or try what I suggested and see what happens.

Have you called URC tech support to see what they say?

I have *NEVER* seen a programmed, functional remote suddenly lose or change its programming do to an actual program problem.

I know that I should never say never, but willing to put my bottom dollar on a bad remote.

As I've said, I had the soft buttons go wonky before. The top left button would activate the top right soft button command, and pressing the top left button would highlight the top right button on the screen, and vice versa. I had to delete the buttons in programming and drag new commands over from the IRDB to fix. It was all working fine before. Was weird but proved to me it can happen.

Newbie here and I have the MX890 + CCP.

I'm having as similar problem- some of the buttons are not responding like they used to. I've only had the remote since Nov '17. There have been no changes to the programming since my installer loaded the remote. Even the basic buttons like volume, pause, play, power on/off are either taking an extra 2-5 sec to respond, or they are ignored. I still get an audible beep when pressing a button.

I could not find anything in the manual about setting button sensitivity. There are no IF/THEN/IF Settings in my code- so that's ruled out.

I loaded 2 different files to the remote to see if the buttons are responding, but got the same results.

Should I do a factory reset and reload the current program, or do I have corrupted hardware?

TIA,
Motor

If you are having problems with delays or even no response, there is a reasonably good chance you have interference in the area of your base station. Try moving the base station/tweaking it’s antenna. Just fixed one like that on Saturday.
