I was wondering if i can make a cable for this remote using a usb cable and not a serial type of cable, provided i use the proper wire to wire connections, ie. ground to ground , send to send & receive to receive .
i found this remote at an Arc store for a dillar fifty lol ,, trying hard to keep this as cheap as possible as not to lose the essence of "the find"

The part numbers may have changed since I made this many years ago.

You need a serial-to-USB adapter (and not every brand will work) to use the remote with a USB connection.

Not to sound dumb or difficult ,, can i just wire the same style of Stereo Cable with 1/8" Stereo Plugs to the end of a stripped cable from an old USB cable ??

Damn, I don't know why I spent a few dollars and bought one. I could have just done this for free.

LOL you know you'd rather hover over your work bench soldering those caps than doing just about anything else...

Thats 4 caps. a resistor , an led and an IC ,,,,,,,,, thinking ill go buy the cables and adapter lol
So i cant just straight line the wires from a old USB cable to an 1/8 inch stereo plug ? there HAS to be all them components in between the USB plug and the 1/8 inch stereo plug ?
