The '1200 is a BEAUTIFUL remote -- you guys did a superb job with the design and engineering. I can't imagine all the hours and work that go into a product like this. My '980 is jealous :)

I agree with you. Was just at BB and was playing with the 1200. Felt a lot better than I originally thought it would. My 980 felt bulky in comparison. I can get used to it quickly :-). Now I just have to see if it's worth the upgrade since my 980 does more than I really need.

What is the MSRP on these? Thought it was $600 but BB had it for $699.

I've run into a possible bug or two on the remote - has anyone else experienced either of these issues w/the MX1200?

- I find that when my mx1200 reaches battery level of approx 40%, it'll power down and not come back on until docked; shortly after docking, the remote will power up and the battery will display 40%, not near zero.

- In CCP for one of the devices, I added a page object "__ of __" in the preexisting persistent button at the lower right corner of the LCD screen; in CCP, it displays properly (e.g., "1 of 6"), but on the remote itself all that displays is "1 of"

I just bought the URC MX-1200 and it works great most of the time, but the battery seems to die very quickly, and then when I put it on the charging station, it seems to take damn near 24 hours for any battery life to return.

For instance, I put it on the charger before I went to bed last night with bars still showing, and I pick it up this morning, and it is completely dead. It will take until tonight most likely before I can use the damn thing.

The red light says it's charging. Could I have possibly just gotten a defective one?

You see TWO red lights on the charger base when it is charging, right? The right-hand one turns to blue once the unit is charged.

I get around 5 days of use of the MX-1200 without a recharge - maybe more - it lasts so long I don't really take note of how long I am able to go without recharging.

It sounds to me like you have a defective battery or a defective charging base.

You can get another battery. I have used an ER-D210 in the past. The model numbers tend to change and they claim different amp-hours. But, it's nice to have a spare when you accidentally let it run all the way down.

Yes, I am getting both lights. If I leave it on there for 24 hours or so, I may get a blue light. It seems I have to charge it every other day.

I just purchased the MX-1200 with the MRF350 and programming for one zone.

Will I be able to mess with the program after the installer is finished with his work?

Does the editing software come with the remote or do you download it?

Is programming this level of remote something an "amateur" even wants to try and mess with?

Thanks for answering these very basic questions:)

Why don't you ask your installer?

See above.

Depends. If the answer above is yes, you can mess with it all you want. Just don't be surprised to get billed if they have to come out to fix it for you.

any response to the beep suggestion with the mx-1200 touch screen vs. hard button beep? I too think this would be a huge step forward as the hard button beep annoying. In the works?

Just received the latest version of 1200. Here's one odd/puzzling observation. The buttons for Lights and Favs are not installed. Only the Main is. And they give you a bunch to choose from - Rooms, Watch, Listen, etc. so far -great. Those buttons cannot be removed once installed. Without opening the case at least. One of the supplied button covers is Main. Considering one Main is already installed, why would anyone need another Main button? Any theories?

The replaceable buttons are the same part as the replaceable buttons on a few other remotes we make. To keep the cost of the button sets down, we include the same set with every remote that uses them.

Incidentally, it's possible to remove the buttons without opening the case, but it takes some very specific pressure at the side of the button. I've never done it myself, but I know several people at the office who can do it in seconds without damage to the button or the remote.

I never found it difficult to remove the buttons. I just take my small flat head screw driver that I use on molex plugs, insert on the side while applying pressure in a downward angle and lift up. Comes right out.

Thank you for the explanation. And good to know they could possibly be removed. I'm not planning to do it or anything but the finality of that decision was pretty daunting.
