Hey guys,
I'm refining my remote and I have some questions, I would like to be able to use and if/else statement with variables, use the toggle statements and bright/dim x10 smoothly.

1. I know how to use and if statement for a "press and hold" feature.
Thanks to Mike Lang with this post:

I just don't know how to make a valid variable, on this post BobL shown how to make it:

[Link: remotecentral.com]

I understand the procedure, I just need to understand how to set some variables. (that's where I start scratching my head)

2. I would like to understand the toggle functions (what they can do), did'nt find anything about it.

3. I have several x10 modules and I've created a macro to turn my lights on/off gradually (with 25 alias bright+ or dim-) It does'nt work nicely it's just sequential.

Can I make 2 macros that would hold dim-/bright+ for 5 seconds, and make it go smoothly? (like when I hold the vol+/- button on my lights scenes)

I know the new x10 have the "soft start feature" but I'm not going to change them all. (Not now anyway, maybe later when I'll move)

Thanks for your help

Jack

Hello Jack

For your number 1 question...

You want to program it this way... let's use TV power for an example

Selection the button on the screen that you will press to activate the IF Else command

Click on record button

Click on IF button

then double click on IF (True) in the macro window

select UI Variable

click on New

Call your variable ''TV IS OFF''

then click Add

Click OK, the window will close.

Then TV IS OFF will be your variable choice

Then, in the window right beside the TV IS OFF, select that this is TRUE ( because it is true that your TV is off)

Now click on OK and the window will close.

Go back to your macro window and go and select your TV power on button, this step will be added to your macro and should be the second step in your macro. If it does not apear there, drag it to the right position.

now select your delay time for TV warm up before you can send it commands if needed with the clock and a + in your macro window. This should be step number 3.

Now click on the variable button in your macro window and select TV IS OFF and put it to the false statement. (You need to do this for your other IF Else commands so that you inform the remote that it is now FALSE that your TV IS OFF) This should be step number 4

Now go and select the input you need your TV to go to. This should be step number 5.

Now, select, again, the input you need to have your TV in and this command should be in the Else command.

Here is how you should read this.

---IF (True)
----Alias (HDTV/PAGE?/ON)
----DELAY ? Second)
----UI Var (TV IS OFF, FALSE)
---ELSE
---Alias (HDTV/PAGE?/ON)

I hope this helped you.

For question number 2.

Imagine you have an Receiver that has 30 descrete commands for audio settings,

If you love to use only 4 of thoses, the toggle command will TOGGLE between those settings only.

By pressing the TO button, select the grey button then hit the record button select the audio setting you wish to toggle through when you hit you button you are editing.

I think I've done my part for now.

Let me know if this helped you.

I'll try it on saturday or sunday and I'll get back to you.

Thanks

All done!!!

Thanks jmacdonald,
I won't need the toggle statements but all my equipement have discrete power now!
The stupid test function did'nt worked, but I downloaded it and everything is fine. This remote is great!

Now I just need to know how to make a "holding button" macro, not a press and hold.
ie. press dim- and it would hold dim for 5 sec.
Some people have to use this kind of function for a ps3 powerdown.
Anyone knows how?

Thanks

Jack

Click on and highlight the button you wish to have act as a holddown. You'll see its function appear in the macro window. Double-click on the function in the macro window and a box will pop up. Set the repeats to something like 30-40, download an try it out to see how long that lasts, then adjust the number of repeats accordingly to get the 5 second hold down.
