I liked Denon for awhile but there has been some unsolved problems and with reliability so I'm trying to get some input on good reliable AVRs that work with MX850, 900, 950 ect... I have done a few Onkyo amps (TX-SR603, 703, 604) and liked them. I was having a bit of trouble finding good emitter placement on the TXSR603. Emitter seemed to work better turned 180 deg (sticky side off) of IR window. Like the single command for power on and input selection. Any one else have any suggestions for a $ 500-1200 AVR that has worked reliably with URC product line??

Thanks in advance, Brian

No trouble with Marantz here (although Marantz uses RC5/6 codes they completely ignore toggle bits and thus work perfectly with learned codes).

No problems here with the Denon, Yamaha, Pioneer Elite AVR's that we carry other than an mx950/mrf300 combo not controlling an avr-4306; mx900 solved the issue perfectly. Have also had to control just about all lines from Marantz to Onkyo, Sony and even JVC w/o any headaches. The Sony, JVC and Onkyo ( which were all existing customer supplied equip) for the most part all woke up on input and were also quick to being able to receive a following command.

Ditto on no Denon issues, but the forum seems to disagree with me.

I'm the same. Haven't had any IR/RF problems with Denon. Although I have had some difficulty in getting RS232 on the New CI series to work right. Probably just changed the codes and haven't released the protocol yet.

Onkyo TX-SR series AVR's Works great. Source select turns on the receiver and selects the input at the same time.

The reason I say unsolved issues w/ denon is b/c I was having huge trouble getting 2106's to work with vol +/-. We did 1906 for the longest time w/ no issues. Then I noticed the same thing with some of denons other avr's. Like the 1907 and the 786. We do the 2807 and above occasionaly but not every day. Has there been a fix for the denon's vol +/- on the 2106 or others mentioned??? Thanks for all the input - Brian

Last post I read was that URC was working on a fix and it was not an easy one.

I use Integra and have had great success with URC and base stations.

I have done 3 787's with no problems. Although the rear IR In does not work at all.

Denon works great, As well as onkyo, but Harman Kardan is a nightmare that I will not relive.
I have had so many problems with the AVR-7300 AVR-440 and AVR 340 I am no longer selling H/K. Customer Service wil not answer calls on their Multi room input nor will the reps acknowledge a problem.

the problem with the denon 687 and 787 is only on rf. if you tap the vol+ or vol - there is no response. if you press and hold the vol button it will work.. this is a pain in tha a**. i love denon receivers, but this problem is making me think of switching. i would love to go to yamaha, but can't find a distrubutor for them.. onkyo took away the discrete fm station access. for the $$$ you can't beat the denon low end receivers for discretes for main and 2nd zone. any help for the solution on vol+ and - would be great.....

This is an old thread but for searching purposes..... Denon has supposedly fixed this issue with using mx remotes with an RF ID other than 0 (zero). Had seen some release about which serial number series starts the fixed receivers but any made now should be fixed.
