I also have a Bose system ( Lifestyle 12 Series II) and the remote, which is supposed to have a 60' range through walls now has about a 6" range on a good day. I have several other components that are all controlled by IR.......so what is the verdict here? Am I screwed and just need to replace the old remote or is there a possibility of finding an IR/RF remote that will operate all of my components?

Sorry but you're out luck, your LS is strictly RF and the only remote to control it is the Bose oem RF remote.

There are some Bose LS systems that are RF only but can be controled via IR with help of aftermarket product called the C-1024A, but it only works on the following LS systems, 20, 25, 30, 40, and 50.
