Some of my audio/video equipment operate with an IR remote and some with RF remote. Is there a programmable remote that can learn and operate both types of signals so I can have just one remote for eveything?

All of URC Pro remotes give you an option of selecting IR or RF for each device.

You need to be more specific.
What equipment do you have?
What's being controlled via RF?

To answer your question, no, there is no remote that can learn IR and RF. IR, yes. RF, no.

Joe is right about URC Pro remotes, you can select IR or RF for each device. However, you need a URC RF receiver at the other end that will convert the RF into IR. So it is still basically an IR remote.

I'm not the original poster but I have a similar question. I have a Bose Lifestyle system that uses an RF remote and everything else is IR. Is there anyway to combine the 2 into one remote?

You should be able to go into to Bose menu and set your primary zone to IR, then you can use a universal IR remote for control of everything.

There are many more LS systems that are RF only then those that can be set to IR. Good chance the OP is out of luck.

You can provide a remote capable of learning and repeating RF codes? I'll believe it when I see it.

I also have a Bose system ( Lifestyle 12 Series II) and the remote, which is supposed to have a 60' range through walls now has about a 6" range on a good day. I have several other components that are all controlled by IR.......so what is the verdict here? Am I screwed and just need to replace the old remote or is there a possibility of finding an IR/RF remote that will operate all of my components?

Sorry but you're out luck, your LS is strictly RF and the only remote to control it is the Bose oem RF remote.

There are some Bose LS systems that are RF only but can be controled via IR with help of aftermarket product called the C-1024A, but it only works on the following LS systems, 20, 25, 30, 40, and 50.

Joe-

Judging by the amount of posts you have made hear and reading some of your other posts I will assume you know what you are talking about. However, this post reads very confusing to someone who might not understand the difference (ie the OP).

Please clarify.

When using a URC remote all gear is controlled via IR. You can select whether you want to send the IR commands over the air via RF to a URC base station which is then repeated via IR to control IR based gear or you can send the codes directly line of site IR.

As a rule of thumb you can only control RF devices made by the manufacture of the control system. URC remotes can control URC base stations, URC docking stations, URC dimmers, etc.

To control other RF devices you must be able to convert them to IR and obtain the correct IR codeset or remote to learn the commands.
