tvanweezel, I would probably choose the RTI T3-V and use the RTI XP-8 Control processor with IOGEAR RS232-to-USB adapters plugged into the back of each DIRECTV unit. You'll have RF control through the cabinet doors and will not have to worry about IR crosstalk or emitters falling off the equipment.

You need to hire an RTI dealer for the equipment and programming. Controlling multiple DIRECTV boxes and TVs in one area is not easy; make sure that you hire someone that has programmed a similar situation.
