I completely agree. It would be great if we at least had a sticky that said "What to indicate when you post here".
- Budget - Brief detail of system (type of components) - Include multi-room control if needed (not after the fact) - zones, rooms, size of house - Touchscreen preference - Hard button preference - Location of equipment as it relates to the usage area - control type your looking for (RS232, two way control vs. RF vs IR only) - Current or previous remote control - Level of expertise in home theater as it relates to your project - Desire to program/install system yourself or consider installer? - Who will be controlling this system (Children, seniors, people in house) - Eyesight issues - Any complicated goals you wish to reach (streaming, PC based, etc) - How you see your system growing in the next 3-5 years
This is a perfect world list, but these are things I need to consider for my new clients when asked for a control system recommendation. More information will always result in a more customized suggestion, otherwise you could easily just read previous posts for an idea.
