As far as I believe, you are correct. In stand alone mode, you do not have to associate with your network.
I have a client with the same problem and after reviewing everything, it appears he set everything up properly but no wifi output to any of the IR ports. All works fine on IR.
Busy light comes on when in wifi mode but no IR output.
Anyone else with an idea?
