I configured the RFX9400 with SSID=Pronto_Network_1, no encryption, WiFi checked and IP setting = DHCP. The IP address is 192.168.8.80.

On the 9600 "system page" properties, I set extender0 type to wireless extender (9400) and under "Wireless Settings" the "enable wireless on Pronto control Panel" is checked along with "Stand Alone Mode", wireless timout = 24 hours and channel = 1.

I created a bare bones configuration file for testing with Home, Family Room and Cable Box devices. Home has a button that jumps to Family Room. Family Room has buttons for "Guide" and "Exit" that link to Cable Box code page. Cable Box has the code page containing "guide" and "exit" codes from factory DB. (I tested these codes and they work fine with IR.) I also set the Cable Box Properties -> Settings tab and checked extender0 and Port 1.

When I press the "guide" or "exit" button from the Family Room device, it works thru IR not WiFi. I confirmed by blocking line of sight with a pillow. Also, the busy light on the 9400 does not go on. If I change the Family Room device -> properties
-> Settings tab and check the extender0 box, and press the "guide" button, the 9400 busy light goes on but the guide command is not executed.

How can I get this thing to work?

How have you connected your IR Outputs on the RFX9400 to the device you are trying to operate?

Does the cable box device use IR codes that are located in another device? If so, it is the device where the actual IR codes are contained that you must set the properties to allow it to be RF.

Thanks for the responses:

1. The 9400 has the emitter going from IR1 to the cable box.
2. "Family Room" has a panel with a button (Guide) that links to a code page under "Cable Box". I have set the properties of "Cable Box" under the "Settings" tab by checking the Extender0 check box. The "Guide" code comes from the factory database and was tested with IR and works fine.

This was accidentally posted twice.

I don't have a clue where to go from here, any help would be greatly appreciated.

If the 9400 is used in Stand Alone Mode, I am assuming that the problem is not connected with the SSID or network settings of my computer?

As far as I believe, you are correct. In stand alone mode, you do not have to associate with your network.

I have a client with the same problem and after reviewing everything, it appears he set everything up properly but no wifi output to any of the IR ports. All works fine on IR.

Busy light comes on when in wifi mode but no IR output.

Anyone else with an idea?

There was a firmware update for the RFX9400 just before the Beta Ended. Both the remote and the Extender had to be properly matched according to Philips.

Someone with this problem, please report what version of firmware you are using on the RFX9400 as well as the TSU9600.

I think I have solved some of the problem. The emitter, when placed directly over the IR does NOT work. I unstuck the emitter and held it approx 1" away and it worked perfectly. The device is a Motorola Cable Box DCT6200. I will test it on another device and report back. My firmware levels are 9400 = 1.0.34 and
9600 = 1.3.4. Has anyone heard of this before?

flooding the ir input window of a device is entirely possible. I have seen this with a wide variety of equipment, but most frequently with cable and satellite receivers.

The last firmware levels that were released before end of beta were:

TSU9600 - 1.2.28
RFX9400 - 1.0.26

Are you sure you read the right numbers?

Darnit - Nevermind. Just found the new Firmware/Software revisions.

There's also a switch on the extender for normal or low power for the IR port. Did you not adjust that as well?

The manual advises you to experiment with positioning the emitter.

I did change the switch settings and the result was the same. It will not work when stuck to the cable box. I tested my receiver with the same emitter and it worked just fine. It seems to me that the cable box is the problem. Can anyone suggest a work around?

Yes, many of the cable boxes are easy to overload with an IR emitter. Others have reported purposely mis-positioning is a good fix. Or try placing the emitter above the entire unit pointing down at the unit.

I also read of a fix in which you put a piece of black tape over the IR receiver and make a pin hole in it and place the emitter over the pin hole.
