Thanks avtech.....that worked a treat.

however the code had to be entered into the pronto in HEX and not ASCII.

P.S. Everything appears to be working well....with the exception of the Volume control (On the Meridian G68 processor) The volume increases or decreases by 7db each time you press the volume button on the pronto, either a short or long press has the same result. Should it not increase or decrease by the amount of time one keeps the button pressed (again this is controlled through the serial interface)
