Hi

I have been successful controlling my Meridian G68/598 and Lumagen Vision HDQ through the RFX9600 using RS232 commands......However I have had zero luck

with my Fujitsu 40 series plasma....

The Fuji uses HEX code to control through serial and I don't have a clue....the Meridian and Lumagen use ASCII, which was reasonably straight forward.

Anyone out there able to point me in the right direction.......

The Fuji serial protocol can be found at [Link: fujitsu-general.co.uk]

any help would be appreciated....

thanks

Roy

P.S. What do you think the chances of being able to control my Sqeezebox through the network in the future.....that would be the icing on the cake for me.

Looks like from what I can tell, that if you send %A2240\r as ASCII, you will Mute the TV. If you send %A2200\r, that will be the lowest volume setting.

The spec mentions hex but then explains that the hex values are nothing more than hex representations of normal ASCII characters.

Example: '%A0400Cr' = '25 41 30 34 30 30 0D' in hex.

This is taken directly from page 3 of the PDF you linked to.

Thanks Lyndel

So to turn the panel on I placed '%A0001/r' into the ASCII Box.......nothing !!!

Also tried it with handshake '@G' and '@Q' again nothing.

Just to check..its a straight serial cable ie. 1 to 1, 2 to 2 etc.

I will have to speak to Fujitsu after the holiday...

see if they can shed some light on the subject

thanks for trying

Do not despair Roy! You should be able to get communication with the Fujitsu Plasma in no time:

First you must send the "communication star command" that enable control by RS-232. Once this command have been received successfully, you can confirm it by trying your Plasma IR remote; it should not work, since once you establish communication with RS-232 the IR control gets disable.

You should try to communicate with another application; like Windows Hyper Terminal first. Then try others commands while you at it. At the end you must remember that you must disable the RS-232 to have the Plasma working with IR: that could also be done by resetting the Plasma cutting the power.

Good luck!

Thanks avtech.....that worked a treat.

however the code had to be entered into the pronto in HEX and not ASCII.

Thanks once again for the info.....much appriciated.

Roy

P.S. Everything appears to be working well....with the exception of the Volume control (On the Meridian G68 processor) The volume increases or decreases by 7db each time you press the volume button on the pronto, either a short or long press has the same result. Should it not increase or decrease by the amount of time one keeps the button pressed (again this is controlled through the serial interface)

Please open a 2nd thread for your Meridian issue as it is not related to the Plasma issue here. When you open the thread, please indicate whether or not you are using Database Codes and if so, does a learned code behave in the same way?

Also, please post the data from the learned code if it indeed behaves in the same manner.

Thanks,
Lyndel
