The thread is a little confusing, but I gather that the learning routine didn't work while connected to the computer but did work when using the remote alone. If that's the case, then the exact same thing happened to me with my MX-850. I just uploaded the learned commands from the remote once I taught them using the remote. Odd. Sounds like a software bug but who knows.
