What is it what you want? Do you want to stream music only or also movies? For music only the sl400i is very suitable, it has a nice display and works seamlessly with the remote. The sl400i is less suitable for movies, because it has difficulties with high bit rate divx and xvid files (frame freezes, shuttering sound etc). Unfortunately the new slm5500 of Philips which doesn't suffer from the high bit rate issues is NOT compatible with the remote.

I own a sl400i, slm5500 and a sla5520. This last one is a music only device which I didn't test with the remote, but I've read somewhere that it is not compliant. If your looking for a music only device, I can test the sla5520 for you.

There are some people using the remote with the d-link dsm devices and reported issues with the remote so apparently these are also not fully compatible. Good luck in finding your perfect media adapter, which I did not found yet.
