I can't get this to work, I'm sure that I'm doing something wrong.

1. Remove the background image on the System Page.

How do you remove, by deleting the background?

2. Create a button on the system page and use the original background image as both the pressed and released state for the button. Position it to be in the same place as the original background image.

I create the button, do you get the background from the gallery for pressed and released state? By position, do you mean the dimensions of 0W X 0L?

3. Put the button behind the other system page items. Do this by sending the background to the back?

4. Add an action on the button to turn on the backlight. This I believe I've got right.
