I guess you have this remote for a while.
The problem is with the motherboard. There is a chip that makes the layer under the screen to turn fluorescent. After some years of use the chip loses his strenth. I was able to put LED light from Ipaqs int the two 3000s.
Is a hard mod to do. Belive me is better for you to sell your remote for parts and get an used one. A lot of guys will need your screen since is imposible to buy a spare.
