As if the receiver sometime responds to the database TV power command. Which TV command (PowerToggle, or PowerOn) did you test in device mode? If it's the TV PowerToggle, then try the TV discrete PowerOn command. I think your Sony TV supports the discrete power method. If not, then you may have to teach the TV PowerToggle command in RAW mode (select custom at the bottom) from your TV OEM remote. It's possible that the database contains a screwed up TV power command.
