Another way to check if it's transmitting is to look at the display while pressing the buttons. If it's transmitting a little icon appears in the display (top right corner, just to the left of the battery indicator) to indicate this. I've had two 885s and they've both ended up with failing buttons. You might find that if you press really hard the button responds. This is a sure sign of button failure.
