No. It is illegal for one company to use the same RF frequency as another company, unless they're both using Z-wave (DirecTV is not). This has to be done, otherwise devices from different mfrs would interfere with each other (the tv remote opens the garage door and vice versa, etc.).

Z-wave uses a common frequency with digital addressing (think of it as a computer network with each device having an IP address so the packets don't get confused) so that's not a problem.

The 890 only communicates with the RF extender and other 890 remotes via RF or other products via Z-wave. Won't work on DirecTV.
