I have a Sony RM-VL 1000, it does macros like many, well the problem I have is I may set a macro like this

TV Power
VCR Power
Play VCR

It works GREAT if all the components are off, but if the TV is on it will turn it off, I don’t have a separate power on and off only one toggle power button.

How do I get around that problem without turning off my TV.

It apears that with Discrete codes I can...I do not understand how to program my remote with a discrete code...or even if I can with this remote...is there a FAQ on exactly what descrete codes are and how to use them.
