So to follow up - it seems that no one in Sharp knows anything about discrete commands...
After a bit more futzing - I have been able to convince the G4U to react correctly to discrete ON/OFF using these commands
Sharp:17:74 Power On(only)
Sharp:17:75 Power Off(only)
Using a Harmony and their awful web interface, for example inability to delete manually recorded IR, to work with these codes is a real pain in the butt - If only I could afford a pronto :-(
