i usually just stick the flashers from the MRF250 to the IR sensor on the front, that way the IR should just simulate button presses on the original remote and means that nothing else needs to be changed (ie the switch can be kept to INT). TBH unless you're connecting up a marantz universal remote and receiver, i would leave the IR input on the back alone.
